Wagon House at Hermon is a self-catering unit on the edge of the Riebeek Valley, 22 km from Wellington and a short drive from Riebeek Kasteel. The unit has two en-suite bedrooms and sleeps four.
The surrounding area is wheat and vineyard country, with mountain views in most directions.
Hermon grew up around its railway station in 1863, when up to 300 ox-wagons a day brought wheat in from the surrounding farms for rail freight. The house takes its name from that trade.
The building is an old farmhouse with wooden floors, high ceilings and generous volume throughout. There are two spacious living rooms, giving guests room to spread out or sit apart.
The kitchen is built around a large open fireplace and is fully equipped for self-catering, with a stand-alone oven, air fryer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Guests can cook indoors or over the fire.
A dam sits alongside the property, with space to sit out with morning coffee before the day warms up.
Riebeek Kasteel, with its restaurants, wine tasting and olive farms, is within easy reach. Wellington and Malmesbury are both under half an hour away.
